Genuine Lülangyao from the Kangxi period
康熙时期的真正的郎朗窑。 中国陶瓷。
The genuine Lülangyao wares are apple-green crackled wares fired during the 1705-1712 period under Lang Tingji supervision, at the end of the Kangxi reign.
They stand among the rarest type of Chinese ceramics aside the Ru wares.
They are a very rare variation from the best known but still researched red Langyao. These pieces burnt only over a 7 years period hold the following characteristics:
- Even apple green glaze;
- Finely crackled;
- The colored glaze stops very neatly around the footrim;
- No mark;
- The base is supposedly crackled but not green, rather grayish. However, the physical aspect of their base may be debated as some of them may have been covered after with a brown color slip presumably to figure Song dynasty style and some of them may still be green colored…
- Very few referenced genuine pieces, all being small bottle vases, jars or bowls;
- Small sized between 5 to 10 inches (cm).
There are only very few pieces known around the world coming from the original Kangxi period:
1 in the British Museum
2 in the Cleveland Museum of Art
4 in the Washington National Gallery of Art
1 in a European private collection
